Usually, younger siblings will catch on to walking, talking, etc., sooner than older siblings do.
That's not the case with us.
Anna is taking her own sweet time. She decided to scoot on her bottom until she was 17 months old, when she started crawling. Then, she picked up walking about a month later.
We're still waiting for her to curse her brothers out. She understsands anything and everything you say to her, but she just can't articulate what she wants to say.
At the 18-month checkup, our peditrician referred us for therapy. However, we were never given a name and were just told that his referral chick would set us up.
And, as always, health insurance issues cloud the whole equation. The group the doctor recommended was not covered by the insurance -- nothing new there.
A month passed, and no word from the doctor's office. Meanwhile, our wonderful daycare recommended a state program called EarlySteps.
But, we said, we won't qualify as we make too much money.
But, we were told, that doesn't matter. It's free -- at this point -- for anyone.
Why doesn't the general public know of these things???
If you know of anyone needing services and the child needing the service is between 0 months and 36 months, check it out.

Hi, I was doing some random blog surfing and found you. I know exactly your frustration with this. We went through the same thing with our oldest. It's good you found someplace so early. It makes all the difference in the world! Easter Seals also offers free help for developmental delays regardless of income. That is where we took our son. Good luck!
our son skipped everything and went from laying on his back, to rolling across the floor to walking to climbing up onto furniture!!. didnt crawl at all!! not once!
Try your public school. They have speech therapists and early prevention programs to help the developmental delays.
